Shahid Tehrani Moqadam


Brigadier General Martyre Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam known as the father of Iran's missile program, who was martyred in an incident while conducting reseach on a missile project.

  • -Biography

    Martyre Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam was born on 29 October 1959 in Tehran.

    After spending elementary education, martyr Tehrani Moqaddam continued his education and succeeded to receive BA in "Industrial Engineering".

    Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam dedicated his life to serving his country during the Iraq-Iran war in the 80s. His abilities soon turned him into the mastermind behind Iran’s indigenous missile program. Modified version of the "Scud" missile and "Shahab 3" are among the dozens of his successful achievements.

    Although Tehrani Moqaddam’s identity was kept a secret before his death, the sudden leap forward in Iran’s missile development program owed itself to his strong leadership as a top military engineer and strategist.


  • +Commander of the Revolutionary Guards missile program

    Brigadier General Moqaddam was commander of the Revolutionary Guards missile program in 1983, and gained a reputation for bravery and tactical prowess during the Iran-Iraq war, which is associated with the Revolutionary Guards.
    Achievements of martyr Tehrani Moqaddam
    Tehrani Moghaddam was a key figure in Iran’s ballistic missile program. He helped develop Iran’s "Shahab" missile series; the medium-range ballistic missiles and capable of delivering nuclear warheads.
    An engineer by profession, Tehrani Moqaddam tested the first prototype of Shahab-4 missile back in 2002, a long-range super modern missile running on solid fuel.
  • +Martyrdom

    On November 12, 2011 residents of the capital Tehran and its suburbs heard a massive explosion that shook the entire province from the east to the west. The explosion happened on "Bid ganeh" military base in "Malard", Karaj. The general and seventeen of his colleagues were martyred there in an accidental explosion during a missile test.
    They were buried with full state honours on 13 November 2011, and in a reflection of the extent of Iran's loss, the funeral was attended by the Supreme Leader.

    On 20 July 2014, "Mohsen Rezaee", Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, pointed to the toil of Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam in the military field and said "This dear martyr was on Imam Hussain’s front and he gave his live for the betterment of Iran.  
    If there were not the likes of Tehrani Moqaddam today not a single missile would have been launched from Gaza today, nor any shout would have arisen from Lebanon; in one word, resistance would have not meant anything and truth would have been slain, " 
    Pointing to the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza he said "Israel’s alibi for attacking Gaza is to find the place where resistance missiles are launched. "

    On 6 November 2014, President "Hassan Rouhani" visited and spoke with family members of "martyr" Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) commander Brig. Gen. Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, a commander of Iran’s missile program. "Hassan Rouhani" said:
    "The actions of martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam were very strategic, vital, and influential for the country’s destiny."  
    "I heard the news of martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam’s death in a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and I was very shocked. This martyr was very worthy, moral, and honest."
    "In addition to this martyr’s expertise, his personality was rare and his valuable service to this country was critical in many sectors.

    On 10 November 2014, addressing the delegates at the ceremony Iran’s parliament speaker "Ali Larijani" said that the strategic projects of General Tehrani Moqaddam had led to the dominance of Iran over missile technology and the country’s superior defense capability in the Middle East.
